The inflammation of the thyroid (gonorrhea) that occurs in women during the first year after birth is called postpartum thyroiditis. With hyperthyroid complaints, which lasted for 1-2 months:
- Tearfulness, sweating
- Slimming, with the complaints of acceleration of the heartbeat, gives a hint of self-esteem.After 4-6 months with hypothyroidism (with gallbladder failure) complaints
- Fatigue, constipation
- Increase in weight, drowsiness
- forgetfulness, swelling on the face and hands etc. Complaints begin to disturb the women after birth. After 1 year from birth, 80% of cases return to normal hormones and result in complete loss of complaints. In 20% of women, this can be a permanent and demanding treatment.
Which women belong to the risk group:
- Women with type 1 diabetes
- Those who are high in Anti TPO
- Avoiding pregnancy during pregnancy
- The presence of thyroiditis in heredity etc.
- Those with a previous pregnancy, postpartum thyroiditis
All women in this risk group are advised to evaluate the TSH in the 3rd and 6th months after birth, especially for those with high diabetes and those with antibody TPO. If TSH is above normal and the woman is planning pregnancy later, absolute replacement hormonal treatment should be started.
